Wakatoshi Ushijima's father. He introduced Wakatoshi to volleyball, telling him stories about his team's reliable ace in high school. When the Ushijima family objected to Wakatoshi's left-handedness, Utsui begged the head of household to allow Wakatoshi to keep his unique trait and that it would be a strength in his future.
