At 18 years old, she married Thomas Lynde. They had twelve children together prior to the beginning of the story. She is an avid gossiper - Anne stating "If you went to your own room at midnight, locked the door, pulled down the blind, and sneezed, Mrs. Lynde would ask you the next day how your cold was!"
